Nossek
Germany´s top scorer and returning Olympian Heiko Nossek will leave his home club SSV Esslingen, bronze medallist in Germany´s Deutsche Wasserball-Liga, to join Italy´s upcoming LEN Trophy participant RN Sori. Sori is one of numerous neighbour clubs of EuroLeague winner Pro Recco at the Ligurian coast and advanced to next year´s LEN Trophy competition only one year after the promotion to the Italian A1 Series. Nossek is feared of his sharp and hidden shots, which are a big danger for each goalkeeper. Nossek was already playing one year abroad for Greek champion Ethnikos Piraeus in the 2006-2007 season, but finally went home to Germany in the Olympic season to his former home club again despite offers from three different countries. This proved helpful for the German men´s team on their way to the Beijing Games, while Nossek himself became father of a daughter in the meantime.

Nossek has never played for Germany´s series champion Wasserfreunde Spandau 04, but won the national title with Stuttgart-based SV Canstatt in 2006. He took part in the three European and World Championships each, but his personal hightlights are the fifth place at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece and a bronze medal at the 2005 Super Final of the FINA World League in Belgrade, Serbia.

Heiko Nossek is the second German player to sign a top-class contract in Italy after two-time European champion Frank Otto, who played in the 1980s three seasons for RN Camogli. Nossek´s father Ingulf took part in the 1968 und 1972 Olympic Games, but died pretty early a couple of years ago.
